The magical locus pile mnemonic method for remembering the twelve signs of the zodiac fast

When it comes to the twelve signs of the zodiac, you may be able to name the ones you belong to off the top of your head, but if you are asked to name all of them in their entirety, this may be a little difficult. The twelve signs of the zodiac may seem like something we are more familiar with, so why can’t we name them all off the top of our heads? Many people may blame this on their poor memory, believing that because they are naturally bad at remembering things, they will not be able to.
In fact, the real reason for the ‘inability to remember’ is poor memorisation methods and learning styles. If you simply try to memorise things by rote, forcing yourself to remember things, you will not remember them.
So how can we improve our memory skills? The answer is to improve our imagination!
In his book On the Soul, Aristotle argues that the perceptual information received by the five senses must first be processed or acted upon by the imagination so that the images formed can become the material for intelligence. Imagination is the stage between perception and thought.
We all know that our brain receives information from the impressions formed by the external stimuli to which our senses are exposed. But the information formed by these sensory stimuli is too disorganised to constitute our thinking, which is still only at the stage of perception. Our minds have to absorb this information through imaginative processing.
There is an experience that if what I think about does not form an inner image, then the level of understanding and memory is very low.
For example, if we were to memorise the concept of ‘apples’, I believe that almost all of us would be able to do it easily, but if we were to memorise the concept of ‘supply-side reform’, it would be difficult for a large number of people because we would not be able to translate it into an internal image. It is not possible to translate it into an internal image, so it is naturally more difficult to remember it.
Transforming abstract words and things in the material world into an image is a literary act. When you take dry knowledge and transform it into an interesting mental image, you can enjoy, the wonderful art of knowledge penetrating both matter and spirit.
So let’s practice mnemonics to quickly remember the 12 signs of the zodiac.
The locative pile mnemonics is a method of memorising a large amount of information by finding a number of piles in a fixed order in your mind beforehand and then associating each piece of information you need to remember with the corresponding pile.
There are two characteristics of piles in the method of locating piles:
① familiarity;
② orderliness.
Some of the piles in the common locative pile mnemonic method are human piles, car piles, number piles, word piles, location piles, etc.
The one we will use today is the human body stake. A human body stake is a structural breakdown of the human body, such as dividing the body into head, eyes, nose, mouth, neck, shoulders, chest, stomach, thighs, knees, calves and feet. Each part is then placed in order so that it forms the body positioning pile.
The first step; all we have to do is to spend 1 minute quickly memorising these 12 parts of the body in a simple way, which is hardly difficult as they are all very familiar body parts. If there are parts we can’t remember, we can quickly recall them by looking at our body structure, which is the best cheat sheet we have!
Of course, it is highly recommended to touch these parts with your hands while memorising them, for even greater effect. The exact reason for this will be covered later.
Step 2; take what we want to memorise, i.e. the twelve signs of the zodiac (Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces) corresponding to each of the twelve body parts we have divided in the first step.
1. The head – Aries
Imagine that overnight our hair turns into white wool, which grows in a characteristic spiral shape, as seen in the hairstyle of the Lazy Goat.
2, Eyes – Taurus
Are the eyes of a bull particularly large? They are as big as two large lanterns, when we can imagine a golden calf wrought of pure gold staring at us with big eyes.
3, Nose – Gemini
Does our nose have two nostrils? Imagine two small children crying loudly out of our two nostrils, their cries disturbing you.
4, Mouth – Cancer
Imagine a huge scorpion waving its pincers around our mouths, the pain is so intense that you feel it.
5, The neck – Leo
Imagine a battle-hardened lion lurking in the shadows, suddenly snapping at the neck of a nearby zebra. The zebra’s neck bleeds, and the hot blood even radiates heat as it hits the lion’s eyelashes, as if in a last-ditch effort to resist.
6, Shoulder – Virgo
Imagine a lovely young woman massaging your sore shoulders, so skilfully that you soon feel particularly comfortable.
7: Chest – Libra
Imagine that you have a scale on your chest, reflecting your glorious virtue of fairness.
8: Tummy – Scorpio
Imagine that your stomach suddenly itches and it turns out that a scorpion that has fallen from the sky is slowly crawling on your belly, terrified you even have the idea of not wanting this belly.
9, Thighs – Sagittarius
Imagine being shot in the thigh with an arrow by a sinister archer, and to add insult to injury the arrow has been pre-poisoned by this archer, so the wound on your thigh immediately turns septic and emits a strong, foul smell. (Of course you can go on and on, for example there were even worms crawling around your thigh wound …… The more specific the description, the more profound the sensation, the more effective the memory)
10, Knee – Capricorn
Imagine that your knee is being imprisoned by a magic ring, like a tight band on the head of the Monkey King, which is constantly contracting and feels like it is breaking your bones.
11, Calf – Aquarius
Imagine that your calves resemble a water bottle, doesn’t it look funny and amusing at the same time?
12, Feet – Pisces
Imagine that the two mischievous wind and fire wheels underneath Nezha’s feet have turned into the shape of fish and our good friend Nezha Jr. is weaving through the clouds with his feet on these two fire-breathing fish.
Step 3; start reciting the song backwards, forwards, backwards, point and click, and keep reinforcing your memory.
You can start with your feet and go back through the images one by one, or you can touch one of these 12 parts of yourself with your hand at random and then quickly recall the image that corresponds to it in your mind.
How’s that? I’m sure you’ll soon have the 12 signs memorised after a few more attempts, right? Isn’t it very simple? This is a very effective way of memorising the human body, and you can also use this method to memorise other points.
